5th grade

Since 5th grade was actually scheduled for NO ART this year, I begged and wheedled into getting them once a week for half an hour. Little is better than none?

Paper Mache!

After a longer than usual demonstration which everyone put up with admirably, several kids dug into Paper Mache. There was quite a wait for this station and everyone used the materials maturely and correctly. Hooray!

Over in Painting, a few kids started their base sketches for a paiting work and got to know the tempera cakes a little better. There was quite a lot of offended grumbling over the use of "baby paints" but once reassured that grown up paints will come out soon, everyone settled down and got to work. It's always interesting to see a painter come out in a kid. Someone who was running, jumping and poking other kids suddenly becomes a vortex of creative conscience and just PAINTS.
